The 29th International Horticultural Congress | Sustaining Lives, Livelihoods and Landscapes | 17-22 August 2014

Welcome

The 150th Anniversary of IHC 2014

The International Society for Horticultural Science is proud to announce that August 2014 marks one hundred and fifty years since the first International Horticulture Congress was held in 1864 in Brussels.

The 29th IHC, which will be held in Brisbane, is only the second IHC to be held in the southern hemisphere and, by all accounts, it will be a very successful Congress indeed.

Receiving over 4,000 abstracts by close of submission, this result reflects how much interest is being generated amongst our colleagues and what a positive community response there has already been to the Congress.

We have developed an extensive program of plenary sessions, symposia, workshops, training schools and tours. The Congress program will include 43 symposia covering a wide range of topics on all aspects of horticulture, arboriculture and medicinal and aromatic plants.

A diverse range of plenary sessions has also been included in the program. These will run in the opening sessions on each day of the Congress. You will have the opportunity and privilege of hearing from some leading experts in their fields from around the world. Topics will include horticulture in relation to food security, food safety, the environment and health.

Donít miss your opportunity to be a part of the 150th Anniversary celebrations Ė register prior to 17 February 2014 for early bird savings.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we encourage our global colleagues to join us, to participate and to experience our unique Australian hospitality.

Your journey to Australia will be more than worthwhile professionally and personally.
